Start of the LIFE-CIRTECHTEX Project: Advancing Circular Economy in Personal Protective Equipment

On September 28, the inaugural meeting of the LIFE-CIRTECHTEX project was held at the Marina Textil facilities. This project focuses on implementing circular economy processes to reduce textile waste in the production of personal protective equipment.

Project Objective

LIFE-CIRTECHTEX aims to transform the circular economy in the textile industry, minimizing the production of technical waste and recycling it into high-quality fabrics for personal protection. Over the next three years, the consortium will conduct a thorough analysis of waste generated in the production chain of protective equipment, focusing on Marina Textil and its partner companies. The goal is to classify and reintroduce this waste into the manufacturing process. Once a new product containing recycled materials is produced, its environmental properties will be evaluated.

Participating Companies

The LIFE-CIRTECHTEX consortium includes several companies from the textile value chain, covering everything from thread production to final product analysis, and comprises entities from three European countries. Marina Textil leads the project along with partner companies from Catalonia such as Blaufabric, Fontfilva, and Grau S.A., as well as Fil Man Made from Italy and Tranemo from Sweden. LEITAT and AEI Textiles also collaborate, contributing a wide range of knowledge and resources to this innovative initiative.
